About / Where This Began

MoonRoot Folk was not created as a brand.
It was born from a season of returning.

This is not a bio. It is an origin, the story of a woman who stopped trying to fix herself, and finally began to uncover who she had always been.

The Origin

A quiet season of returning.

In 2023, after three years of living abroad in Costa Rica, building a life that felt deeply, genuinely aligned. I returned to the United States. And something in me didn't come back the same.

Not in a dramatic way. In a quiet way. The kind that doesn't announce itself. The kind that lives in the body before it lives in words.

For a long time I kept trying to find my way back quickly. To rebuild. To perform the recovery the way I had performed everything else , with discipline, with direction, with visible evidence of progress.

Until I stopped. Not dramatically. Just quietly stopped trying to fix it.

And in that stopping, something honest began. I sat with myself. I returned to the Stoic philosophy that had been the foundation of my inner life for over a decade. I returned to somatic practices, to nervous system work, to the shadow inquiry that had shown me, again and again, that the layers covering who I actually was could all be released with honesty and time.

And slowly, not linearly, not on a schedule, something began to emerge. Not a new woman. The one who had always been there.

That emergence became MoonRoot Folk.

Who I Am

I am Abrihet Imara.

Founder of MoonRoot Folk. Author. Speaker. A woman who has spent more than 25 years sitting with women in the most honest seasons of their lives, the transitions, the identity unraveling's, the quiet grief of outgrowing something you worked hard to build.

I have lived every phase of the Uncovering framework personally; The Stillness. The Unraveling. The Emergence. Not as a professional exercise, but as the actual architecture of my own life.

I hold a background in behavioral science through my work at Easter Seals, and that work lives inside MoonRoot Folk not as clinical methodology but as a deep, practiced understanding of how human beings actually change, slowly, non-linearly, through safety and honest relationship, with themselves.

I am the author of Sacred Alchemy, and am currently writing Uncovered: Returning to the Woman You Never Lost, the book that carries the full MoonRoot Folk philosophy into permanent, global form.

What I Believe

These are the truths MoonRoot Folk stands on.

Not every season of life is meant for becoming. Some seasons are meant for remembering.

Growth does not always look visible. Healing is not always linear or loud.

The body often knows before the mind admits it.

Some exhaustion is not burnout — it is misalignment.

Slowing down is not failure. Inner stillness is not a destination — it is the foundation.

You were never lost. You were covered.

And the woman you have been trying to become has been waiting for you to stop looking for her, and simply uncover her.

The Stoic Foundation

The roots beneath the roots.

For over a decade, Stoic philosophy has been the invisible architecture underneath everything I have built and everything I have survived. Not Stoicism as academic study, as daily practice. As the honest, unglamorous, returning-to-the-well work of a woman who needed a philosophy that did not flinch from reality.

Marcus Aurelius. Epictetus. Seneca. These teachers did not give me MoonRoot Folk , but they gave me the ground it grows in.

🌿

Surrender & Trust

Releasing the need to control outcomes. Building peace from the inside. This is the soil.

🔥

Sculpting Who You Are

The daily intentional practice of choosing who you actually are over who you have been performing. Each day, a small honest act of becoming.

🌙

Living It Holistically

Stoicism is not a hack or a shortcut. It is a way of life that compounds over time. Returning to the well because returning is the practice.

The Invitation

If you have been feeling this, there is a space for you here.

MoonRoot Folk exists for the woman navigating the in-between seasons. The ones that don't make sense yet. The ones without a highlight reel. The ones that feel like loss even when something truer is trying to emerge.

Not to rush you toward answers. Not to tell you who to become. But to remind you, again and again, that there is wisdom in staying present with what is real, while you are still in it.

The door is open. Come when you're ready.
